South-West won’t abandon Tinubu in 2027 — APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the Southwest region will stand firmly behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos. His response followed claims by supporters of a PDP presidential aspirant, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, suggesting that the Southwest would not re-elect Tinubu in 2027.

Oladejo dismissed the comments, describing Olawepo-Hashim as a “perennial aspirant” who lacks the political structure and influence to win any major election.

“Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has never built a strong political base nor demonstrated the electoral strength required for a national contest,” Oladejo said. “Tinubu will easily crush anyone or any group plotting against his re-election in 2027.”

He went on to describe Olawepo-Hashim as a “convenient mascot for opposition desperation,” saying that his so-called endorsements were insignificant.

“He may flaunt endorsements from small gatherings or in press statements, but endorsements printed on photocopied letterheads do not translate to votes,” Oladejo said. “If by any chance he becomes the PDP’s presidential candidate — a party now bankrupt of both human and material resources — he will be thoroughly defeated at the polls.”

Oladejo accused the PDP of relying on “empty theatrics and recycled candidates,” saying their tactics would not save a party that had long been driven by sentiment rather than competence.

He also condemned Olawepo-Hashim’s criticism of Tinubu’s administration, calling it “distasteful and unacceptable.”

According to him, Tinubu’s government is already laying a strong foundation across several key sectors, including infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, and fiscal reform.

“Those who spread selective statistics or complain about the economy do so because they cannot defend the alternative — a return to the waste, arrogance, and economic mismanagement that nearly crippled Nigeria’s potential,” he stated.

Oladejo added that Nigerians are now more politically aware and will not trade ongoing progress for what he called “recycled excuses.”

“To those behind these baseless claims, stop insulting the intelligence of Lagosians and Nigerians,” he said.

He concluded by saying that in 2027, Nigerians would vote for continuity and proven leadership, not “the empty drama of political tourists.”

“The Southwest will not abandon its own for a project built on ambition without substance,” Oladejo affirmed.
