The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that a gas explosion at a steel company in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, left nine persons injured. The incident occurred at Phoenix Steel Mills, with the victims identified as factory workers. Police Public Relations Officer SP Omolola Odutola stated that the injured were taken to Rolayo Private Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The explosion, which took place on Saturday, was attributed to a cylinder explosion at the melting point area of the factory. This led to injuries among the staff members and also caused vibrations that cracked window frames of nearby houses. Despite attempts by community youths to attack the company, police and the Army's 174 battalions in Odogunyan Ikorodu intervened to maintain calm.

The situation is reported to be under control, with ongoing monitoring by authorities. There is no need for panic, and further updates will be provided to the public as the investigation progresses.
