Summer Transfer Saga: Napoli in Disarray as Osimhen’s Move Sparks Team Tension

Osimhen

The highly anticipated summer transfer of Nigeria's Victor Osimhen from Napoli is reportedly causing discontent among the former Serie A champions' team. Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is said to be displeased that many of the side's stars are seeking a move away following the lengthy negotiation to extend Osimhen's contract earlier in the season, which has divided the dressing room.

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, De Laurentiis is so upset with the players that everyone, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Giovanni Di Lorenzo, will be free to leave in the summer if they are unhappy at the club. Napoli, the defending Serie A champions, are having a difficult season with only 49 points in 33 matches, risking not qualifying for a European competition after a 1-0 loss to strugglers Empoli.

The report suggests that unhappy players will be allowed to leave in the summer transfer window as long as the club receives a suitable offer. De Laurentiis reportedly no longer wants unhappy players at the club, especially after the contract negotiation with Osimhen divided the dressing room. Players like Kvaratskhelia, Stanislav Lobotka, and Captain Di Lorenzo will be permitted to leave if they no longer wish to stay at Napoli.

Osimhen has been the subject of intense transfer rumors, with Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, among the leading teams interested in signing the Super Eagles' forward. Napoli has been prepared to part ways with Osimhen for several months, despite his clause being worth €120m-130m.
