The Rivers State Government has identified the suspect who detonated an explosive device near the Presidential Hotel during a recent pro-police protest in Port Harcourt. Less than 24 hours after issuing an alert to medical facilities, the State Commissioner for Health confirmed that the suspect was brought to Rivers State University Teaching Hospital for treatment by individuals who later fled.
Dr. Adaeze Oreh, the Commissioner for Health, informed the media that despite initial claims of a road accident, medical personnel recognized the injuries as consistent with blast wounds. The suspect, now stable after receiving emergency care, remains under police custody as investigations proceed.

Commissioner Olatunji Disu of the Rivers State Police Command confirmed the explosion and ongoing investigations, noting that particles indicating an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) were found at the scene. Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect's accomplices, ensuring heightened security across the hospital and surrounding areas.
