Suspected Herdsmen Kill Three Villagers in Enugu State, Leaving Others Injured

Suspected herdsmen have reportedly killed three villagers in Ugwuijoro, Nimbo community, in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, also left many others critically injured, according to village sources.

The herders allegedly attacked mourners and farmers at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, causing widespread grief and sorrow. Among those killed were Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.

A viral video showing the aftermath of the attack, seen by The Nation on Monday morning, depicted a deserted community. The voice in the video described how the invaders took the villagers by surprise and shot sporadically at the mourners. Tables and chairs were scattered in the compound where the mourners had gathered, with lifeless villagers lying in pools of blood.

Nimbo had previously been attacked in 2016, resulting in the death of scores of people and sparking nationwide outrage. The Enugu Police Command was yet to respond to enquiries regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
