Tai Solarin University Suspends Exams After Student Killing

The management of Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun State has indefinitely suspended the ongoing second-semester exams following the murder of final-year student Olaoye Fabiyi by suspected cultists. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when Fabiyi was forcibly removed from the exam hall by unidentified men.

Witnesses reported that the armed assailants dragged Fabiyi to a corner, where they shot him and struck him with a brick, ensuring his death before fleeing the scene. Despite efforts to save him by medical staff at a general hospital, Fabiyi succumbed to his injuries.

In response, the university's Deputy Registrar, Babatunde Odugbesan, announced the suspension of all exams scheduled for July 4 and 5, urging students to remain calm as investigations continue. He assured students of their safety and promised further updates on the resumption of exams.

Ogun State Police Command spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed that an investigation had begun and that raids on suspected cultist hideouts were underway. Odutola emphasized the police's commitment to apprehending all individuals involved in the crime.
