Three Dead, Two Rescued in Lagos Building Collapse

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the death of three site workers in a building collapse at Arowojobe Estate, Maryland. The incident, which occurred early Thursday morning, involved the collapse of three terraces under construction at No 13, Wilson Mba Street.

LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, reported that emergency services were alerted at 3:49 AM and arrived on the scene by 3:58 AM. The rescue team recovered three deceased workers from the rubble, while two others were rescued alive along with one additional worker who was trapped but later saved.

The rescue operations were conducted by LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire Service, with the aid of an excavator to expedite the search. The Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit has been engaged to handle the deceased, and ongoing efforts involve a combined team of emergency personnel and the Nigeria Police.
