The administration of President Bola Tinubu has invested over N300 billion in the development of the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Speaking at the inauguration of the nine-kilometer Paikon Kore-Ibwa Road in Gwagwalada, Wike disclosed that N8.5 billion was spent on the road project alone.
Highlighting other projects, Wike noted that N22 billion is earmarked for the Aguma Palace-Market Road, to be completed by May 2025. He added that N16.5 billion has been invested in renovating schools and building three police divisions in Gwagwalada, bringing the total expenditure in the council to over N50 billion in under two years.
The minister emphasized that the administration’s commitment extends beyond the city center, with significant investments in satellite towns. He stated, “Mr President has committed not less than N300 billion to the development of the six Area Councils.”
Community members and project leaders lauded the Paikon Kore-Ibwa Road for transforming over 70 communities, boosting local businesses, and improving access to markets. The road, neglected for over 50 years, now facilitates the transportation of goods and services, significantly impacting farmers and residents.
