President Bola Tinubu and former President Goodluck Jonathan are set to attend the inaugural International Biotechnology Conference organized by the National Biotechnology and Research Development Agency (NBRDA). The conference, starting Monday in Abuja, will bring together scientists, researchers, policymakers, industry experts, and entrepreneurs to discuss the potential of biotechnology in driving economic growth.
During a briefing in Abuja, Director General of the agency, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, highlighted that the event, themed "Biotechnology as Engine for Economic Growth," aims to revolutionize Nigeria's and Africa's economic sectors. The conference will cover key areas such as agriculture, health, environment, molecular biology, industry, ethics, Intellectual Property Rights, and genetic engineering.\

Prof. Mustapha emphasized that advancements in biotechnology could spur new industries and job creation. By showcasing research and innovation, the seminar aims to attract investments and foster biotech-related businesses, enhancing Nigeria's and Africa's global competitiveness.
"With biotechnology advancements, Nigeria and Africa can enhance their global competitiveness. The knowledge shared can empower researchers, scientists, and entrepreneurs to innovate and compete on a global scale," Mustapha stated. He added that the conference could attract foreign investments, partnerships, and collaborations, further amplifying the impact of biotechnology advancements.
