President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Vice Admiral Onok Ete Ibas (Rtd) as the sole administrator of Rivers State, following his declaration of a State of Emergency in the state.
The decision came after the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara for an initial six-month period, as part of the emergency measures aimed at addressing the ongoing political crisis in the state.
In his statement, President Tinubu emphasized that the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibas would ensure effective governance in the interest of the people of Rivers State. He further clarified that the judicial arm of the state would continue to operate within its constitutional mandate, unaffected by the state of emergency.
