President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerian pilgrims traveling to Israel and Jordan to focus on their spiritual mission and represent the country with dignity. Represented by Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, at a ceremony in Ikeja, Lagos, Tinubu emphasized the importance of prayer as a cornerstone of his administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda. He urged pilgrims to reflect deeply on their faith, strengthen their connection with God, and inspire others through their actions.

Tinubu encouraged prayers for Nigeria’s progress, families, and communities while cautioning against absconding during the pilgrimage. “Nigeria is our homeland; let us all return after this exercise,” he said. The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has collaborated with security agencies to ensure accountability and safety for the journey.

Bishop Dr. Stephen Adegbite of the NCPC underscored the pilgrimage’s theme of restoration, drawing inspiration from Joel 2:25-26. He assured pilgrims that the next ten days would be dedicated to praying for the nation’s revival and divine breakthroughs in 2025. Adegbite reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy for absconding and detailed strict security measures in place to prevent it.

Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Lagos State Governor, urged pilgrims to embrace the journey as an opportunity for personal and national transformation. Highlighting the pilgrimage’s spiritual and cultural significance, she encouraged participants to pray for Nigeria’s peace and development while serving as ambassadors of the nation. She assured them of the Lagos State Government’s unwavering support throughout their journey.
