President Bola Tinubu on Monday met with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The new military leaders arrived at the Villa around 4 p.m. in a black Mercedes van escorted by a green Toyota Land Cruiser.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye.
Tinubu had announced a major shake-up in the military hierarchy on Friday, October 24, 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security structure.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

Major-General W. Shaibu was named Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke became the new Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas was appointed Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
In the statement, President Tinubu expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing service chiefs for their dedicated service and leadership, commending their commitment to the nation.
He also charged the new military chiefs to justify the confidence placed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces.
