President Bola TinubuTinubuTinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other soldiers in Borno State.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Wednesday, the President said he was “heartbroken” by the tragedy.
“I am heartbroken by the abduction of our daughters in Kebbi and the painful loss of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the brave soldiers who fell in Borno. Their families and the families of the kidnapped schoolgirls are in my prayers,” he wrote.
Tinubu said he is personally “depressed” by the loss of troops who died in the line of duty and prayed for strength and comfort for their families.
He condemned the attack on the school in Kebbi and described it as an assault on innocent children whose education has now been disrupted.
“I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State,” he added.
The President also noted a recent rise in violent extremist attacks in parts of the country and said he has ordered security agencies to respond with “urgency, clarity, and decisive action.”
He urged Nigerians to actively support security operatives with useful information, stressing that community cooperation is vital.
“Our forces need the full cooperation of every community. Sharing information can save lives and protect our children,” he said.
Tinubu warned that those responsible for harming citizens “will face the full weight of the Nigerian state.”

The abduction occurred early Monday when armed men invaded the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu LGA, Kebbi State. The attackers killed the school’s vice principal and a security guard before escaping with 25 students. One girl has reportedly managed to escape, while hunters and security agencies continue searching for the others.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Musa Uba, commander of the Nigerian Army’s 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, Borno State, was ambushed by ISWAP militants near Wajiroko village on Friday. The group later claimed they executed him and other captured soldiers.
Tinubu confirmed the general’s death, describing him and the fallen troops as heroes who paid the ultimate price for Nigeria’s safety.
