President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned trip to South Africa for the G20 Leaders’ Summit as he awaits detailed security briefings from Vice President Kashim Shettima on the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the deadly attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu has also ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area. He directed police authorities to hunt down the bandits responsible for the church attack. The move follows a request made by the Kwara State governor.

Presidential aides disclosed that Tinubu wants firsthand updates on the Kebbi situation—including outcomes of meetings with community leaders—before embarking on any international trip. He had been scheduled to leave Abuja today for the G20 Summit in South Africa before proceeding to Angola for the AU-EU Summit.

Onanuga explained that the President suspended his departure after being briefed on the school abductions and the attack on Christ Apostolic Church worshippers in Kwara. Tinubu is now awaiting a report from Vice President Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, and updates from the police and DSS on both incident
