President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged a befitting burial and national honours for the 17 military personnel who tragically lost their lives during a peace mission in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. Tinubu made this promise during a special Ramadan Iftar event, where he was joined by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and House of Representatives leadership, including Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
During the event, Tinubu expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and assured that their sacrifices would never be forgotten. He emphasized the need to honor the memory of the deceased soldiers, stating, "In responding to distress calls, they met the end of their lives in a savage manner. Let us work to sympathize and symbolize the fact that they are worth the sacrifices they have made for Nigeria."
Tinubu also praised the dedication of all men and women in uniform, offering his sympathies and support to them. He indicated that further pronouncements would be made soon regarding the burial arrangements and national honours for the fallen soldiers, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their service and sacrifice for the country.
