Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his performance under challenging circumstances. Speaking during a meeting with the comptroller-general and management team of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Daura, Katsina state, Buhari acknowledged the difficulties of governing Nigeria and commended Tinubu's economic reforms since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
Despite Tinubu's efforts, some of his policies, such as the removal of petrol subsidies and unification of exchange rate windows, have contributed to high inflation and economic hardship. This has led to protests and demonstrations by organized labor and citizens across the country. Buhari urged Nigerians to endure the economic challenges and support the current administration's policies and programs.
Bashir Adeniyi, the comptroller-general of customs, also lauded Buhari for his role in transforming the NCS during his presidency. Adeniyi reiterated the service's commitment to securing Nigeria's borders to boost the country's economy.
