Tinubu’s Minister Nnaji Resigns Amid Certificate Forgery Allegations

Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has stepped down from his position.

 

Nnaji submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, October 7, following allegations that he forged his academic certificates.

 

In a statement on Tuesday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has accepted Nnaji’s resignation.

 

“President Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, after allegations were raised against him. Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, thanked the President for the chance to serve the country,” the statement read.

In his resignation letter, Nnaji said he was the target of blackmail from political opponents trying to damage his reputation.

 

President Tinubu appreciated his service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
