The Ondo Police Command is in discussions with military authorities to identify the soldier responsible for fatally stabbing a trader. The Police spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the killing and assured that the culprit would be apprehended.

The victim, Ezeani Ebuka, 27, was stabbed during a dispute on Saturday. Fellow traders at the Arakale area of Akure protested, seeking justice for the slain trader. They claimed that soldiers came to the area to forcefully collect money from a trader who had already paid for a service.

An argument ensued, leading to a fracas and the eventual stabbing of Ebuka by an unidentified soldier. Witnesses reported that the soldiers also assaulted family members of the deceased, causing some to fall into a coma.

In response to the incident, traders staged a protest, blocking the road and demanding justice as well as the arrest of the soldier involved.
