A tragic incident unfolded on Monday afternoon on the Kara Market overhead bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where a suspected hit-and-run driver struck three pedestrians waiting for a bus. The driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to a fatal outcome for Yahaya Suleiman and Emeka, who were knocked off the bridge and later pronounced dead at the Lagos State Emergency Clinic in Ojota.

Eyewitness Issa, a pure water seller, recounted the harrowing scene, describing how the speeding vehicle collided with the pedestrians, causing two of them to plummet from the bridge due to the impact. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Confirming the tragic event, Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, disclosed that efforts are underway to apprehend the driver responsible for the fatal crash. Meanwhile, the third pedestrian, identified as Ishola, is currently hospitalized with severe injuries sustained during the collision.

This incident underscores a concerning trend in Ogun State, where several pedestrians have fallen victim to suspected hit-and-run accidents on major highways in recent months. The authorities are actively investigating the case and endeavoring to notify the families of the deceased while ensuring justice for the victims.
