Tragic Accident: Driver Arrested After Fatal Crash on Kano-Zaria Road

The Kaduna State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has apprehended a driver involved in a tragic accident on the Kano-Zaria road that claimed six lives and left 30 others injured. Mr. Kabir Nadabo, the Sector Commander, confirmed the incident, attributing the cause to overloading and dangerous driving. The accident, involving a trailer transporting bags of rice from Kano to Warri, occurred at Wambai along the highway.

According to Nadabo, preliminary investigations revealed that the trailer was speeding, leading to the crash. He stated that the vehicle was carrying 57 people, resulting in six fatalities and 30 injuries. The injured were taken to Makarfi General Hospital for treatment.

Nadabo highlighted the FRSC's efforts to combat overloading, mentioning the inauguration of a Joint Special Task Force on Overloading of Goods, Humans, and Animals. He emphasized the need to sensitize drivers about the dangers of overloading and night driving, expressing regret over the avoidable tragedy.

The sector commander praised the Kaduna State Government, stakeholders, and the media for their support in promoting road safety awareness. He assured that the driver involved in the accident would be prosecuted once investigations are completed, and reiterated the FRSC's commitment to reducing road crashes.
