Tragic Mishap on Third Mainland Bridge: Two Passengers Drown in Lagos Lagoon

Two passengers are reported to have drowned after falling into the lagoon from a commercial bus on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State. Several other passengers suffered various injuries in the incident, as per information gathered by The Nation.

The accident happened on Eid-el-fitri, a period when Muslims mark the end of Ramadan. According to reports, the driver of the 20-seater bus with license plate FKJ 872 YA was attempting to prevent the vehicle from plunging into the lagoon when the passengers fell off.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the Southwest Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the occurrence. He mentioned that a rescue team has initiated search-and-rescue operations.
