In a tragic incident on Sunday night, suspected cultists on motorcycles shot and killed Olumide Ifeoluwa, also known as Tescom, in the Ijeun Tuntun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. According to a resident who spoke anonymously, Olumide, allegedly a member of the Aiye cult group, was attacked at a car wash where he often relaxed with friends. The assailants shot him in the head while he was in the company of others.

The resident recounted the incident, stating that the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and targeted Olumide before fleeing the scene. The incident caused panic among the residents, who fled to safety fearing reprisal attacks. Police from the Ibara Divisional Headquarters later arrived to evacuate the victim's body.

Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that Olumide was shot in the head by unidentified gunmen in an ash-colored Corolla at Somefun, Ijeun Tuntun, around 9:55 p.m. The incident is part of a series of cult-related killings in Abeokuta, with four similar incidents reported in February.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, recently announced that 48 individuals in Sagamu had renounced their membership in various cult groups and surrendered their firearms. Alamutu urged other cultists to follow suit and warned of decisive action against those who continue to engage in criminal activities after the amnesty period.
