Troops Arrest Two Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Recover Arms in Plateau

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF-OPEP) have arrested two suspected cattle rustlers during a raid in Kogul community, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of Thursday, followed an intelligence report on the suspects’ alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Maj. Samson Zhakom, Media Officer of the operation, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Jos.

“As part of efforts to curtail the menace of cattle rustling, which often triggers crisis in our Joint Operations Area, troops of JTF-OPEP raided the hideout of suspected cattle rustlers in Kogul village, Mangu LGA of Plateau,” the statement said.

According to Zhakom, the raid led to the recovery of several arms and ammunition, including:

  • One AK-47 rifle

  • One AK-47 magazine

  • One fabricated revolver rifle

  • Ten rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition

  • A mobile phone and an undisclosed sum of money

The media officer added that the suspects and recovered items are currently in the custody of the troops for further investigation.
