Abuja, Sept. 12 — Nigerian troops have thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to hijack eight humanitarian trucks conveying food and relief materials along the Gubio–Damask road in Mobbar LGA, Borno State, the Defence Headquarters has said.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed on Friday that the incident occurred on September 3 during a firefight in which several terrorists were neutralised, while weapons, ammunition and motorcycles were recovered.
From September 3 to 11, troops of Operation Hadin Kai sustained momentum in the North-East, conducting kinetic and non-kinetic operations in Bama, Gwoza, Mobbar, Chibok, Monguno and Marte LGAs of Borno, as well as parts of Adamawa and Yobe States.

In the North-Central, Operation Enduring Peace and Whirl Stroke carried out offensives in Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, Kogi and the FCT, killing extremists, arresting over 60 suspects, and rescuing hostages. Notably, a wanted extremist, Abdulrahman Bega, was arrested alongside four others.
In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe dismantled illegal refining sites, destroyed stolen crude oil worth over ₦11.3 million, and arrested 13 oil thieves. Separately, two high-profile IPOB/ESN members skilled in IED-making were arrested in Delta State.
In the South-East, Operation Udoka maintained offensive posture, with Kangye noting that relative peace had been restored due to professional military conduct.

Kangye reiterated the Armed Forces’ commitment to defeating terrorism, banditry and other criminalities nationwide, urging citizens to continue supporting security operations with credible information.
