Troops conducting operations in North West Nigeria have successfully neutralized two terrorists while defending Damba Dikko village in Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The encounter, which took place on Wednesday, March 6, also resulted in the rescue of two villagers. Army spokesperson Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed these details in a statement on Thursday. He added that some villagers who sustained minor injuries during the incident have been treated by Army medical personnel.
In a separate operation in South South Nigeria, troops conducted a daring rescue mission to save four kidnap victims abducted in Edo State. The kidnappers had forcefully taken their captives, including a lady and three men, into Ososo forest in Akoko Edo Local Government Area. The troops tracked and intercepted the kidnappers, engaging them in a firefight to extricate the abductees.
Nwachukwu stated, “The troops apprehended one of the kidnappers, who is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be subsequently handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency." He added, "One of the rescued victims, who suffered from shock and fatigue, has been evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, while others have been reunited with their families."
