In a decisive operation against Lakurawa terrorists in Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State, troops from the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade neutralized six terrorists. The operation, however, came at a significant cost, with five soldiers losing their lives during an intense firefight.

The operation, detailed in a statement released by Lt Col Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, highlighted the recovery of vital arms and ammunition, including:

  • Four AK-47 rifles
  • 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
  • One box of 12.7mm ammunition

Lt Col Abdullahi commended the bravery of the fallen soldiers, noting their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
