Troops of the Joint Task Force Southeast, code-named "Operation UDO KA," have neutralized two members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), who were attempting to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order in Abia State. The operation took place on Monday, July 29, during a joint patrol with other security agencies, including the Nigerian Navy, Police, Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

A statement released on Tuesday on the official Operation UDO KA platform in Enugu detailed the events of the encounter. The troops, on patrol, noticed three Toyota Sienna vehicles and a Toyota Highlander approaching from the Ogboahia general area in Abia State. The troops pursued the vehicles and made contact with the IPOB members. During the ensuing confrontation, two IPOB sit-at-home enforcers were neutralized, and one of their Sienna vehicles was set ablaze.

Further operations and exploitation led to the recovery of a Toyota Highlander, a Toyota Sienna, a Kodiak camera, a Tecno phone, and cutlasses. Intelligence reports suggest that, in addition to the illegally declared sit-at-home from July 29 to August 3, 2024, the IPOB terrorists plan to hijack national protests to cause mayhem and havoc on innocent residents of the Southeast.

Operation UDO KA appealed to law-abiding citizens to avoid being used as human shields by the terrorists and urged the good people of the Southeast to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information. Residents were encouraged to report relevant information to Operation UDO KA by dialing *193* and pressing *Option 2* on their phones.

The statement emphasized that Operation UDO KA would continue to perform its constitutional roles of safeguarding lives and property in accordance with global best practices and the rules of engagement guiding its operations.
