The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the death of a truck driver involved in a tragic accident near Kara Bridge on Wednesday. The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed that the agency received a distress call around 4:26 a.m. and immediately activated its emergency response team from Alausa, Ikeja.
Upon reaching the scene, responders discovered an articulated truck laden with steel coils and a 40-foot container had overturned. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver lost control while attempting to avoid a collision with another container truck, causing the vehicle to tip over and discharge its cargo.
Tragically, the unidentified truck driver succumbed to the accident. LASEMA noted that the body of the deceased had been removed before the arrival of the agency's response team. The agency extended its condolences and emphasized the importance of road safety to prevent such incidents.
LASEMA implemented safety measures at the site and collaborated with other agencies to clear the road. Recovery operations have since been completed, and vehicular movement in the area has been fully restored.
