On Thursday, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria announced that it will not participate in the national protest scheduled for August 1, which aims to address hardships and hunger. Despite this, TUC President Comrade Festus Osifo affirmed that protesting is a constitutional right for Nigerians and advised security agencies not to intimidate those taking part.

Osifo clarified that the TUC had not been approached to support or collaborate on the planned protest. However, he emphasized that the absence of such an invitation does not negate the right of citizens to express their grievances through protest.
