On Wednesday, July 17, two commissioners from Governor Alex Otti's cabinet reportedly resigned from their positions. Chima Oriaku, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, and Prof. Mrs. Monica Ironkwe, the Commissioner for Agriculture, stepped down following a State Executive Council meeting presided over by the governor.
The news of their departure began circulating shortly after the meeting, with conflicting reports about whether the commissioners were dismissed or resigned voluntarily. As of the time of reporting, neither Governor Otti nor the Information Commissioner, Prince Okey Kanu, had issued an official statement regarding the circumstances of their resignations. The commissioners themselves were reportedly unaware of the reasons behind their removal.
