Two-Storey Building Collapses in Lagos, Many Feared Trapped

A two-storey building collapsed in the Isale Eko area of Lagos State on Thursday, May 30, with many people feared trapped. The structure, reportedly defective, gave way following a fire in parts of Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident. He noted that 14 other buildings were severely impacted by the fire.

Emergency responders, including NEMA, Federal and State Fire Services, the Nigeria Police, and the Nigeria Ports Authority Fire Service, have been deployed to the scene.

This incident follows a similar event in April when four buildings collapsed due to a fire in Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island.
