Less than 24 hours before the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election in Anambra State, one of the leading aspirants, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, has announced his withdrawal from the race.

In a statement issued on Friday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, confirmed that Umeoji's withdrawal came after a series of consultations with his supporters. This development reduces the number of aspirants vying for the party’s ticket in the upcoming November 8 governorship election to six.

Morka stated: "An aspirant in tomorrow’s gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra state, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, has informed the Party of his decision to withdraw from the election. According to him, this decision was made in good faith following consultations with my supporters across the state."

The statement further commended Umeoji for his contributions to the party both in Anambra state and at the national level. The party urged Umeoji to continue supporting the party's efforts and work towards the success of the eventual gubernatorial flag bearer in the November 8, 2025 election.

This withdrawal has already sparked discussions about the dynamics within the party as the race for the APC gubernatorial ticket in Anambra intensifies.
