UNIZIK Students Seek Donations for Ransom of Abducted Schoolmate

Some students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, are seeking donations for the ransom demanded for their abducted friend and schoolmate, Miss Francisca Chioma. Chioma, a student of the Science Education Department, reportedly went missing on her way to attend a burial.

According to reports, Chioma disappeared after leaving Awka to attend a friend's father's burial in a community in Anambra State. Despite attempts to reach her through her phone, she remains unresponsive, causing concern among colleagues, friends, and family.

The Chief Security Officer of the institution, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident and stated that relevant security agencies have been notified. He also mentioned that the kidnappers have contacted the family, although it's unclear if they have requested a ransom.

Reports on social media indicate that the kidnappers initially demanded N10 million ransom, which was later negotiated down to N2 million. As the victim's family struggles to raise the ransom, her schoolmates and friends have appealed for public support and donations.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, urged the victim's family, friends, or witnesses to come forward with any information that could assist the police in their investigation.
