Social critic and activist, Martin Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has vehemently reacted to a court’s order for his arrest over alleged defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
In a video response, Otse accused the judiciary of attempting to silence him, claiming that corrupt judges and lawyers were involved in a conspiracy to suppress his voice. He stated that he is currently outside Nigeria and pointed out that he has a pending case in the same court that he has never missed, questioning the legitimacy of the arrest order.
Otse further revealed that another court had issued an injunction barring him from discussing Mercy Chinwo and her former record label boss, Eezee Tee, calling it part of a broader attempt to muzzle him. He vowed to resist these actions, claiming he would expose those behind the plot against him.
He said: "The judiciary cannot shut me down. I will resist it. I will expose all those involved, the judges, the forum-shopping lawyers, and their illegal orders."
Otse expressed frustration that the arrest order was issued despite his lawyer informing the court that he was not in Nigeria and had always attended his cases. He also referenced another court injunction that aims to prevent him from discussing Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee, claiming it’s part of a broader effort to suppress his freedom of expression.
In his video, he emphasized, "Even if they handcuff me when I come to Nigeria, it does not change the truth—that there was abuse of power and influence."
