Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Akure on Wednesday, leading a high-powered delegation for the final rally in support of APC's governorship candidate, Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the Ondo State election on Saturday. Aiyedatiwa assumed office following the passing of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on December 26, 2023.
Shettima’s entourage included prominent APC figures such as Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Usman Ododo (Kogi). They were joined by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele of Ekiti, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Minister of Interior Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Minister of Youth Ayodele Olawande, among others.
The vice president’s itinerary included a courtesy visit to the Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, before proceeding to the campaign grounds for the grand finale. The event underscores APC’s commitment to retaining governorship control in Ondo as party leaders rally support for Aiyedatiwa in the closely watched election.
