War against Fubara: Wike Loyalist Resigns Citing “Toxic” Work Environment

Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom, the Rivers State Commissioner for Education, has resigned from the State Executive Council, citing a "toxic" working environment. Professor Mmom, known for his loyalty to former Governor Nyesom Wike, expressed his inability to achieve his set targets for the education sector in the state due to the unfavourable conditions.

In his resignation letter dated May 15, 2024, Professor Mmom thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the opportunity to serve but highlighted the loss of trust, animosity, and sharp division among colleagues in the cabinet, which he deemed unhealthy. He emphasized the need for a calm, safe, and friendly environment to stimulate efficient service delivery and enhance productivity.

Professor Mmom had previously resigned from the Fubara cabinet during a political crisis in the state but returned as Commissioner for Education. His loyalty to former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been evident.
