West Ham have sacked manager Graham Potter after just nine months in charge, with the club stuck in 19th place in the Premier League.

Potter, who replaced Julen Lopetegui in January, won only six of his 25 games. Hopes of a turnaround were dashed after heavy defeats to Tottenham and Crystal Palace, which proved the final straw.

The club said results since the end of last season “have not matched expectations” and confirmed that Potter’s entire coaching staff has also left.

Former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo is tipped to take over. The Portuguese coach was recently dismissed by Nottingham Forest despite leading them into Europe last season.

West Ham have just three points from their first five league matches and face Everton next.
