Wike Alleges Senator’s Sponsorship of Anti-Government Protests

Wike

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has alleged that a senator is behind the protests against the government, though he did not name the senator involved. Wike claimed that intelligence revealed the senator's involvement in providing food for protesters through security agencies.

Following an emergency Security Council meeting, Wike announced that the senator would soon be questioned by security agencies. He emphasized that while protests are a democratic right, they are currently restricted to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium to prevent disruptions.

Wike also warned of potential plans to incite violence and property destruction in the FCT, urging those involved to abandon such intentions. He assured that security agencies are prepared to prevent any acts of violence and emphasized the need to adhere to court orders regarding protest locations.

The minister stressed the importance of maintaining law and order and ensuring that protests remain peaceful, noting that the government is committed to addressing the issues raised by the protesters while ensuring public safety.
