Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, expressed pride in his role in making Siminalayi Fubara, an Ijaw man, the Governor of Rivers State. Speaking at an event organized by the Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike said God used him to achieve this significant political milestone.
Refuting claims of conflict with the Ijaw community, Wike dismissed social media reports suggesting tensions between him and the Ijaw people. He emphasized that such allegations were false and attributed the rumors to a few ungrateful individuals, stressing that most Ijaw leaders are supportive of him.
Wike highlighted his contribution to positioning Ijaw people in key roles within the state's House of Assembly, further defending his efforts to support the community. He criticized his political opponents, stating that their envy stems from his political achievements and that they have been repeatedly defeated.
Concluding, Wike asserted that his camp remains committed to upholding the rule of law, avoiding violence, and ensuring that Rivers State remains conducive for investors. He warned that no group has a monopoly on violence but emphasized the importance of stability and legal processes.
