The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nyesom Wike, has strongly criticized certain individuals he labeled as political Harlots in Rivers state, affirming his resolve to overcome them. Wike made these statements during a special Thanksgiving event organized by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, to celebrate his birthday, new position in the National Assembly, and appointment as the Grand Patron of the Boys Brigade, Nigeria.
The event, graced by dignitaries such as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and other National Assembly members, saw Wike commend Chinda as a potential successor, contrasting him with politicians who, in Wike's opinion, had betrayed him in the past. He criticized those who, after failing to secure the governorship ticket, sought to align with different factions, labeling them as not true representatives of the Ikwerre and Rivers people.
Recalling his own political battles in 2014 and 2015, Wike highlighted his unwavering support for a southern presidential candidate in 2023, despite facing opposition. He praised the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for their integrity and urged continued support for them.
Wike concluded by cautioning against individuals who remain silent, suggesting they could be a potential danger. He also reflected on his tenure as Rivers Governor, highlighting various completed projects and expressing disappointment that some were not inaugurated due to envy. He challenged his detractors to petition him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), emphasizing that he had no immunity and was prepared to face any allegations.
