In a new twist to the political crisis in Rivers State, youths staged a peaceful protest against the local government caretaker committees inaugurated by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Under the aegis of the Nigerian Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the protesters thanked Police Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun, Police Commissioner Tunji Disu, and security agents for securing the council secretariats to prevent violence.

House of Assembly Speaker Martins Amaewhule led the protest in Obio-Akpor local government, urging the people to continue resisting injustice. The police assured the protesters that officers would remain apolitical and committed to maintaining order. Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark also called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene to restore peace in the state.
