Lagos Pastor Turns Himself In Over Rape Allegations, Case Moved to Police Zone 2

The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has surrendered himself to the police following allegations of multiple rape and other offences that could threaten public peace, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed.

According to the police, the case has now been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, explained that Pastor Okafor was initially invited by the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti but failed to honour the invitation on Monday.

“When he was invited, his lawyer informed us that he would appear on Monday. We waited, but he did not show up. I then directed that he should be arrested,” Jimoh said.

The police commissioner added that the pastor eventually reported himself to the police on Tuesday, after which it was confirmed that a parallel investigation had already been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters.

“I discovered that the matter had been under investigation at Zone 2 for about three weeks. Since the Assistant Inspector-General is my immediate superior, the case was handed over to his command,” Jimoh explained.

Addressing concerns raised by alleged victims, the commissioner noted that social media has become an important platform for reporting grievances and that the police now act proactively to prevent situations that could escalate into a breakdown of law and order.

The allegations against Pastor Okafor began circulating online in mid-December 2025. One of the accusers, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, claimed she had a long-term sexual relationship with the cleric dating back to 2017, alleging broken marriage promises, sharing of explicit materials, and events that allegedly led to the collapse of her previous marriage.

Amid the public backlash, Okafor reportedly addressed his church congregation on December 28, 2025, where he apologised for past “mistakes” and knelt at the altar to seek forgiveness.

There are also reports that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is considering disciplinary measures against the pastor, who has stepped aside from his ministerial duties while investigations continue.

The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that adequate security has been provided for all alleged victims, adding that investigations are ongoing at both the SCID, Panti, and the Zone 2 headquarters.
