The latest attack comes days after widespread panic gripped parts of Niger State following rumours of an impending terrorist invasion. The scare forced many schoolchildren in Minna, the state capital, to leave their classrooms early and rush home.
Parents also contacted school authorities to verify reports of possible attacks on schools, prompting concerns across the state.
At the time, the police dismissed the reports as false, assuring residents that officers had visited the affected areas and found no evidence of attacks on any school.
Authorities had urged residents to remain calm, stating that security agencies were on alert and working to safeguard lives and property. The fresh attack in Borgu, however, has renewed concerns over the security situation in the state.
