Ogun Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Gun and ₦2.2m

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers and recovered a firearm, cash and other items during a follow-up operation linked to the rescue of an abducted victim.

The police said the operation was carried out by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit as part of ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the victim was kidnapped on June 11, 2026, at Ogbe Village in Ogun State. Following the report, the police immediately deployed intelligence and tactical teams to secure the victim’s release and track down the kidnappers.

After days of surveillance, intelligence gathering and sustained pressure on the gang, the victim was rescued unharmed on June 18.

The command said operatives later traced members of the kidnapping syndicate to a hideout within the state.

“Upon sighting the operatives, the suspects opened fire in a bid to resist arrest and escape. The officers responded professionally, leading to a gun duel during which two of the suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while others fled with gunshot wounds,” the statement said.
