The Anambra State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Agency has rolled out 25 free WiFi hotspots across the state, marking a key step in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s digitisation agenda.
The Managing Director of the agency, Fred Agbata, announced this on Friday while addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Awka.
Agbata described the project as a people-focused initiative rooted in Soludo’s “People’s Manifesto,” which promised to provide cheap—and eventually free—WiFi in schools, lodges, public spaces, and government institutions.
According to him, the hotspots, known as Solution WiFi, are more than just infrastructure. “They are lifelines that democratise internet access for students, traders, civil servants, and everyday Ndi Anambra, bridging information divides and promoting inclusion,” he said.
He listed the current locations of the 25 live WiFi sites, which include Aroma Junction, Eke Awka, UNIZIK Junction (Temp Site), Solution Arena, the Jerome Udorji Secretariat, the State House of Assembly, and several lodges such as Ada Jesus Lodge, Living Spring Lodge, and Royal Villa Lodge. Institutions like Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, and the College of Health, Obosi, are also covered.
Agbata emphasised that the ICT Agency’s mandate goes beyond connectivity. “We were established to drive digital transformation in Anambra—making governance more efficient, inclusive, transparent, and people-centred,” he explained.
He revealed that the agency has already digitised the state executive council proceedings, moving away from paper-based processes to digital platforms. This transformation, he said, is now spreading across ministries, departments, and agencies, making civil service operations faster and smarter.
“The story of Anambra’s digital transformation is still unfolding, but the foundation has been laid. From the RoW waiver to the Solution WiFi project and the digitisation of governance, we are building a future where technology works for the people,” Agbata said.
He stressed that the broader vision is to create a smart, liveable, and prosperous megacity that empowers youth, strengthens institutions, and ensures no one is left behind.

Addressing journalists, Agbata urged the media to continue playing its role in shaping public narratives and holding government accountable. “This is about more than gadgets and cables. It’s about building a society where technology serves the people. So, I invite you—our partners in progress—to keep telling these stories, asking the tough questions, and shining light on our journey of innovation and transformation,” he said.
