Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force, North Central, operating through Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, have rescued two kidnap victims during a security operation in Kwara State.
The rescue took place along the Gidan Dogo Ekaa axis as troops attached to Patrol Base Babasango carried out a clearance and fighting patrol aimed at flushing out criminal elements from the area.
According to the Army, the operation was conducted on June 3, 2026, when soldiers encountered the two victims, who had managed to escape from their kidnappers.
The rescued individuals were identified as 42-year-old Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mohammed Sani.

Following the rescue, the victims were taken into protective custody and moved to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support and other necessary assistance after their ordeal.
Military authorities said arrangements are already being made to reunite the victims with their families.
The Army described the rescue as a reflection of the effectiveness of ongoing security operations across the North Central region and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-driven missions.
It also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information that can aid efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the region.
