Former President Muhammadu Buhari has called on leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people over personal interests, urging a citizen-centric approach to governance. He made the remarks during a visit by governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform at his Kaduna residence.

Buhari reflected on his time in office, stating that he left with the same physical assets he had before his presidency. He emphasized that leadership comes with both challenges and opportunities and that balancing the two is crucial for advancing national progress.

He expressed confidence in the continued growth of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and thanked the Bola Tinubu administration for the renovation of his Kaduna residence, noting that while the external appearance of the building remained unchanged, significant improvements had been made internally.

In his address, the Chairman of the PGF, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, extended gratitude to Buhari for his pivotal role in the founding of the APC, describing him as a key figure in the party's identity. Uzodinma praised Buhari’s leadership, especially his efforts in security, economic recovery, and anti-corruption, noting that Buhari’s administration left a lasting legacy in Nigeria’s political history.

He also acknowledged Buhari’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that the continuity of APC’s progressive values is secured under Tinubu’s reform-driven leadership. The governors expressed their enduring respect for Buhari’s contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and his pivotal role in shaping the APC into the force it is today.
