The Kano State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed no fewer than 1,889 personnel for a week-long special patrol operation ahead of the 2026 Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
The Sector Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, the deployment includes both regular officers and special marshals who will be stationed across different parts of the state to ensure safer roads, smooth traffic movement, and quick emergency response during the festive period.
“The deployment of over 1,889 personnel comprising Regular and Special Marshals across the state will ensure safer roads, smooth traffic flow, and prompt emergency response services,” the statement said.
The special patrol operation commenced on May 25 and is expected to continue until May 31, 2026, as part of the Corps’ routine safety measures usually introduced during festive seasons when vehicular movement increases significantly.
The Sector Commander, Idris Lawal, said the operation is aimed at reducing road crashes, traffic congestion, fatalities, and other highway emergencies during the Sallah celebrations.
He explained that the command had fully mobilised personnel and operational equipment to ensure effective monitoring and enforcement on major highways and identified traffic flashpoints across the state.
According to him, the FRSC has deployed 24 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, one heavy-duty tow truck, two operational motorcycles, radar speed guns, breathalysers, and other traffic management tools to strategic locations for faster response and improved operations.
Lawal further stated that all Unit Commanders and the 44 Local Government Station Officers had been directed to maintain aggressive visibility patrols and full operational coverage throughout the exercise.
The operation, he said, will focus on traffic offences commonly linked to fatal crashes, including excessive speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, operation of faulty vehicles, expired tyres, and violations relating to passenger manifests.
To strengthen enforcement, mobile courts will remain active across the state to ensure speedy prosecution of traffic offenders, while emergency rescue teams have been placed on maximum alert to handle distress situations promptly.
The command also disclosed that the patrols would run on shift basis to provide 24-hour rescue and monitoring services along major highways and critical road corridors within Kano State.
Special night rescue teams have equally been stationed at strategic points to respond to emergencies during night travel.
The FRSC appealed to motorists and road users to remain patient, disciplined, and law-abiding throughout the festive period by avoiding speeding, reckless driving, and other unsafe road practices capable of endangering lives and property.

The command also encouraged members of the public to cooperate with officers deployed on highways and make use of the FRSC toll-free emergency number 122 to report accidents, traffic obstructions, or other emergencies requiring urgent attention.
While reassuring residents of the Corps’ commitment to safer roads during and after the festive period, the Sector Commander wished Muslim faithful and residents of Kano State a peaceful, safe, and accident-free Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
Eid-El-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most important celebrations in Islam and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah before a ram was provided as a substitute.
