Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has vowed to make the “supreme sacrifice” to protect the state’s interests, following the recent Supreme Court ruling. Speaking at the inauguration of the Government House Staff Quarters on Monday, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that Rivers State takes control of its destiny.
Commitment to the People of Rivers State
Fubara encouraged the youths supporting his administration to remain steadfast and await further directives, stressing that his government would act at the right time, even if it meant personal sacrifice.
“I am not scared of anything. The worst that will happen is for me to leave the office, not that I am leaving the earth. It is about doing the right thing when the opportunity is given to us.”
The governor emphasized his resolve to lead and rejected any form of violence. He expressed frustration over continuous attempts to destabilize his government, noting that every time progress was being made, obstacles were thrown in its path.
Rejection of Violence, Focus on the Right Cause
Fubara made it clear that his actions would be motivated by the best interests of Rivers State and not personal gain. He encouraged his supporters to focus on fighting for the right cause, regardless of the outcome.
“It is not about who wins, it is about the glory and the honour of fighting gallantly. We must be on the side of truth, not lies, and not for cheap favor,” he said.
Fubara also reassured the public that despite the challenges, his government was genuine and committed to purpose-driven governance that prioritizes the welfare of the people over personal interests. He pointed out that his administration has remained transparent and focused on achieving the long-term benefit of the people of Rivers State.
Rivers State’s Governance and Infrastructure Development
The governor took pride in his administration’s recent projects, such as the construction of the Government House Staff Quarters, which he highlighted as an example of his commitment to improving the welfare of workers.
“We decided that our staff members can’t be living in uncomfortable places while I live in comfort. Will I get efficiency from my workers if they are not happy?”
He also mentioned that the staff quarters were previously in dilapidated condition, and his government took the initiative to redevelop them, showing his dedication to ensuring government workers' welfare.
Commitment to Rivers State’s Future
Fubara made it clear that despite recent political challenges, his administration would not back down and would continue to complete the planned projects for the people of Rivers State.
“The interest of Rivers State remains my priority, and it is above every other thing, even if it means to pay the supreme sacrifice for it, I will not hesitate to do it.”
He closed with a biblical reference to assure his supporters that their strength lies in a higher power, and even in the face of adversity, Rivers State’s victory is assured.
With his firm statements and commitment to the welfare of the state, Governor Fubara reassured the people of Rivers State that he would remain steadfast in his leadership, ensuring that Rivers State continues to thrive under his governance.
