The investigative panel assigned to probe allegations regarding convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has submitted its report, dismissing claims that he was kept out of the custodial center while serving his six-month prison sentence. The panel confirmed that while Bobrisky served his time, he did receive certain privileges during his incarceration.
Uju Agomoh, Executive Director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), who participated in the investigation, stated that there was no evidence to support the accusation that Bobrisky stayed outside the prison during his sentence, which spanned from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024.
“The panel did not find any evidence thus far that suggested Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial center during the period of his imprisonment,” Agomoh emphasized. She clarified that Bobrisky served his six-month correctional sentence with the usual remission applicable to such cases, thereby adhering to the legal framework.
The conclusion of the panel's investigation sheds light on the controversies surrounding Bobrisky’s imprisonment, confirming that he did not escape his custodial obligations but benefitted from standard privileges accorded to inmates.
